God's love brought us together

Our "Registry"
Wishes from two minimalists
If you know our story, you know we started long-distance, relying often on text. An ancient Chinese saying we love is 见字如面 * (groom side--say: "jian zuh rue mian"). It means I see your face in your writing. To reflect that, we invite you to send handwritten cards instead of gifts. If you're ok with that, feel free to share holiday greetings, prayers, encouragement for grandma, marriage advice, or anything you want to share with us! 见字如面!
*There's a similar-sounding phrase that David originally wrote here: 腱子肉面。It means "tendon, meat and noodle". That'd be nice as a gift, too, but it's not what we meant to say and it means he needs more study.
(comments: David came up with this four-word phrases (amazing!!) and wrote this part. He is so talented with language and have put so much effort to learn mandarin. I don't think he needs to study more. He is perfect. If you are interested in his Mandarin handwriting, you can click the section "some other things" and "handwritten cards" in this website. ---Li)

FAQs
Is Dec 31st, 2020 the day?
We hope so. The exact date might vary a little or a lot, depending on COVID.
Where?
We will quickly take our vows in an open yard at Grandma's home. She can't be outside right now, so we'll be just on the other side of her door (and she'll still look fabulous).
It will be recorded to share with our families and friends.
Why So Soon?
We're ready. We considered waiting until everyone could feel safe celebrating together, but nothing makes us think that will be soon. And if the purpose is to celebrate together, we still can (and plan to) do that when it's safe. We'd also like to reflect God's simple and pure love by keeping it simple and pure. 2020 has been hard, so we think a little joy is needed. We are deciding what this year means for us.
any parties?
Yes, we'd love to share our excitement in two ways!
First, a video call with friends and family on the night of the wedding. Call us Dec 28th if you don't get any call-in info by then (don't be shy--you are automatically invited if you're reading this!).
Then in 2021 we plan to have a more traditional celebration, Lord willing. Other couples are delaying their wedding to 2022 because of limited supply of venues. We don't want to wait that long to celebrate with you!
